Apparel Product Developer

The Product Developer is responsible for the complete sampling & production process of the K-Swiss Apparel collection in Europe. This would mean taking control of the process from design into samples and into actual production.

The Product Developer belongs to the European marketing department and reports to the Sr. Product developer.

The Product Developer works closely together with the Sr. Product Developer. Additionally there will be a close working relationship with the total European Apparel Team, Design, Production Agents, Logistic Department, Sales & Marketing team.

Tasks/ responsibilities

80-90% of the job will consist of the following tasks:

·        Responsible for the sampling & development process of the apparel collection of K-Swiss.

At first the manufacturers are located in Portugal & Asia.

·        Responsible for the order placement, quality control and follow up of production timelines.

·        Day-to-day contact with the local production agents in Portugal & Asia.

·        Responsible for the development & documentation of all style specifications & size specifications (in co-operation with the designers).

·        Travel both within Europe and Asia will part of the job. This to brief in the sample-collection (together with the designers) & plan follow-up meetings with the sourcing agents & factories.

·        Joint responsibility on assortment planning, price strategy & design direction of K-Swiss apparel collection (together with rest of the Apparel Team)

·        Responsible for the complete production time-line of Apparel from design until customer delivery

10-20% of the job will consist of the following tasks:

·        Support European Apparel Unit Manager

o       Prepare Key-account meetings (samples, presentations)

o       Follow up of Key-account meetings

o       Communication with & to key-accounts

o       Direct contact & communication with sales agents

·        General support on all levels to get the apparel business build up:

o       Trend-watching (market-visits & WGSN)

o       Collection catalogues

o       Trade Fairs

o       Launch & PR Events

·        The apparel collections will be sold globally and will therefore require coordination with other          K-Swiss offices around the world.

Requirements

The Product Developer will require a broad perspective on the complete apparel business, since the K-Swiss Apparel is still in a start up face starting from scratch. Nevertheless the core expertise should be in fabrics, materials and judging the quality of samples (high quality fashion education). Next to that experience is required in dealing/purchasing directly with factories. The person should have experience with factories in Europe & Asia for an A-brand preferably a fashion brand. The developer should have a good understanding of s Illustrator and other basic software
